Desperately Seeking Softness
I’m going to be honest: the hard edges of this world have been getting me down.

I know I’m not the only one who feels overwhelmed and out of step with the swirl of events that continue to engulf us on the daily. Life is changing and change is tough. But does it follow that we have to be tough on each other? I don’t think so. As the chaos of each news day and commentary passes, it is no wonder we find ourselves craving softness and warmth.
A woman is relaxing near a sunlit window with her legs crossed and resting on a cushioned ottoman. She is wearing black leggings and soft grey moccasin slippers featuring plush dark grey fur trim and delicate beaded detailing on the toes.
It is impossible to avoid the harsh realities of grief, stress, injustice, fear, and loss — not just globally, but in our personal lives as well. These are universal challenges of humanity. But we deserve and can seek rest from them. In order to find a better, gentler balance, I have been dedicating time and creating spaces for myself to pause, breathe, and release tension. This can mean anything from disconnecting from my phone, to meditating, to making time for calming hobbies like crafting and knitting.

I’m not ashamed to admit that my quest for solace and comfort includes donning pyjamas at the earliest possible opportunity! At the end of the day, it’s a relief to be able to shed constrictive clothing and slip into loungewear. Not to mention, it’s much easier to relax your mind when you can relax your body as well.

And the best, most effective way to enjoy moments of softness? Slippers. Plush, velvety moccasin slippers.

Quiet times won’t be disturbed by noisy footfalls, as these slippers have a soft, taupe outsole that matches the suede piping around the toe. The genuine sheepskin interior naturally regulates temperature, keeping feet cozy, snug, and fresh.
