I’m one of those people who looks for glimmers: little, everyday moments of sweetness or joy that can bring hope and happiness into day-to-day living.

Glimmers are easy to find, if you know how to look.

They manifest themselves as tiny blessings we seek and enjoy. They create a warm glow of contentment that not only keeps us going, but keeps us grateful.

This week, my own personal glimmers have included:

a visit with long-distance friends
homemade iced tea
wildflowers by the roadside
the hand of a friend
a hug from a dog
seeing a blue heron
reading an old novel on the porch
vintage family photographs

Glimmers are present in our daily routine, and they can surprise us when we’re out in the world. Flowers in the garden. A joke shared in the grocery line. A cold glass of lemonade in summer. Even a good hair day! Whatever puts a little shine in your heart.
