Sometimes, the unexpected happens.

Often, it’s something disappointing, like bad weather on a special day, or maybe an expensive repair. When things don’t turn out the way we’d hoped, it can necessitate redirecting our energy to avoid a more serious mishap.

But sometimes the unexpected turns out to be a “happy accident”, especially when you end up with positive results. This is the case with Laurentian Chief’s Limited Edition Ivory Moccasin Boots!

Laurentian Chief footwear is made entirely in Canada by Eugène Cloutier in Quebec City, where they have been crafting moccasins since 1945. For 80 years, generations of artisans have perfected time-honoured techniques in leatherwork inspired by Indigenous tradition. Eugène Cloutier utilizes eco-friendly premium hides and suedes, including “wild” leathers such as buffalo, moose, and elk. Hides are tanned and dyed to create a variety of looks for the Laurentian Chief line of moccasins, slippers, and mukluks.

These beautiful Ivory Moccasin Boots happened when a mistake in the dyeing process created a unique shade of leather that deviated from the company’s usual colour palette. Fortunately, the designers at Eugène Cloutier recognized the error was in their favour. This new ivory hue is too handsome to be considered a flaw! Turning a negative into a positive, they decided to embrace the mistake and fabricate a limited edition ankle-high moccasin boot in men’s and women’s sizes. The boots are crafted in classic moccasin style with double rows of fringe, and a 6” high cuff accented with Native American-inspired braiding. Rawhide cord laces gather the gusseted tongue, and the traditional U-shaped vamp is hand-finished with criss-crossed stitching. Inside, the inner sole is padded for an extra comfortable fit, with the suede interior lending velvety softness.

A rubber crepe outsole completes the look and versatility, making this the ideal walking boot, especially for the fall. The limited edition ivory leather brings all these details to light with rich, luxurious warmth.
